Public Hearings

Public hearings are those items formally noticed under the requirements of South Gate Municipal Code Section 11.50.020. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing and make required findings to either approve, approve with conditions, or deny an application by adopting a resolution.

 
A.

ZONING CODE AMENDMENT TO MODIFY TITLE 11, CHAPTER 11.43 (ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS AND ACCESSORY STRUCTURES) OF THE SOUTH GATE MUNICIPAL CODE AND FINDING THE ACTION EXEMPT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT.

  1. CONDUCT a public hearing;
  2. ACCEPT the determination that the proposed Zone Change Amendment is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) as a “ministerial” project pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15268(a); and
  3. APPROVE Resolution No. 2025-07 recommending approval of an Ordinance to City Council to amend Chapter 11.43 (Accessory Dwelling units and Accessory Structures) of the South Gate Zoning Code.

Any final action of the Planning Commission, on this agenda, is appealable to the City Council upon filling the request with the City Clerk prior to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025.
